How to make my American Sonicare toothbrush work in Australia?
I own a Sonicare toothbrush but it does not work in Australia. (Apparently because the voltage is different from the American charger being used in AU.) I’ve searched around on how to get it working in Australia and the only solution I’ve seen is to buy an American to European converter, then a European to Australian converter. I’ve also looked to see where I can buy an Australian Sonicare- but no luck.
Any help would be much appreciated!
If the problem is the actual plug not fitting, then a converter may help. You can get universal converters, so the need for a USA – Euro, then Euro – Oz seems inefficient.
If the problem has more to do with the differences in voltage that the unit has been designed for, that may be more expensive to solve. USA has a wide range of household voltages, most seem to be around the 110V range. In Australia, we have 240V as the standard.
Often when you get products that are exported around the world, they will have a switch to make them able to be used in either voltage range. Sonicare may simply make the units for each market.
You can get a stepdown transformer to change the power from the plug here in Oz from 220/240V down to 110V for your toothbrush. The units are about half the size of a shoebox, so not the smallest piece of equipment to keep in your bathroom. It may be worth just getting a new toothbrush.
